THE KOMUZ

The temir KOMUZ (Iron komuz) is considered to be one of the oldest musical instruments in the world, a shaman's instrument. It is written that a musician is seen in a Chinese drawing playing it and the drawing is from the 4th century BC.

The instrument is thought to be native to Asia and it's English name, the "Jew's Harp". It is written that it has no connection with Jews or Judaism, yet, it's name indicates that it does. KOM. Sometimes spelt QOM, or QUM as found in the word and location of Qumran.

When Jesus was healing the female child he said her name and it means ARISE.

The English rock band THE WHO played this instrument, an example in their song "JOIN TOGETHER".

In this picture of it, it looks like an iron key, although you can find many different types on-line. Remember that iron can also be found in the biblical text and so can the mention of various instruments.

There are two different types, the instrument put into the mouth, and the string instrument like a lute was sometimes made from a single piece of wood in either apricot or juniper wood and plucked like a guitar. You will notice that they both have a similar shape.

In 1982-1983 during excavations in Shamsi village not far from Tokmok archaeologists found a golden mask and a komuz, (4-5th century).

Interesting that a couple of weeks ago, I felt compelled to buy a furry hat like this from the charity shop, the shop was the Heart Foundation charity shop. Synchronicity, or divine providence, you decide. There is no coincidence in my reality.
